Hunters for Hire FAQs:

Q:  What is a continuity series?

A: It's a series of books that take place in one common world, share all the same world rules, but are written by different authors.

Q: How many books will be in the series?

A: Unknown. As authors, we have no control over how many books are accepted into the series, but there will be several.

Q: How many authors are involved in this series?

A: It began with seven authors but has grown tremendously since the beginning. However, the answer to this question is the same as the previous one, we have no idea how many authors will end up being a part of this series.

Q: Where did the idea for bounty hunters in space come from?

A: Heather Holland suggested that a group of authors with a common interest in scifi get together and work on a joint project. During a brainstorming session, she tossed out, "How about bounty hunters in space?" off the top of her head, and the others ran with it.

Q: How long did it take to set the ground work for the series?

A: So far, almost a year and it continues to grow as more books are written and new authors join the fold.

Q: How long will the series last for? How long will it take for all the books to be released?

A: Unknown. As far as the authors are concerned, the series could last indefinitely, but it's not up to us. The fate of the series is in the hands of the editors at Ellora's Cave and Cerridwen Press.

Q: Why do the books cover both the Ellora's Cave and Cerridwen Press imprints?

A: Because there are numerous authors and not all are comfortable writing hot enough for Ellora's Cave just as some of the authors that write hotter aren't comfortable toning it down for Cerridwen Press. Some of the books are also more mainstream or are straight scifi (meaning the books can range from no romance to an abundance of romance).

Q: Will having books under both imprints affect the series in any way?

A: We hope not. In our opinion, it offers a wider variety of stories for the readers to enjoy.

Q: What is the first book of the series and when will it be out?

A: Savage by L.A. Day is the first Hunters for Hire book and it came out at Ellora's Cave on November 7, 2007.

Q: I am an author interested in writing for this series. Do I have to be an Ellora's Cave/Cerridwen Press author or is it open to anyone? How can I find out more information on it?

A: Anyone who is interested can write a book for this series. One does not have to already be with Ellora's Cave or Cerridwen Press in order to submit something for the Hunters for Hire. For more information on the series go to the contact page here on this website and send an email to author Heather Holland. She'll answer any questions and see to it that you get the latest version of the series bible.

Q: Will I have to read every book in order to follow the story line?

A: No. Each book should be able to stand on its own, however, there may occasionally be a small story arc that spans from one book into another. We will make sure and note any books that are directly linked to one another here on the website.

Q: When is the cut off for submitting a manuscript for this series?

A: At this time, there is no cut off for submitting. If at any time in the future this changes, we'll be sure to post an update here on the website.

Q: Will the Hunters for Hire books become available in print?

A: Unknown. Again, this is completely up to the publisher, but we are hoping.
